MSU Club Soccer Weekend Recap

(MSU vs. WMU under the lights on Sept. 24)

The Michigan State men's club soccer team was in action twice this weekend, coming away with a split in results.

On Friday night, the Spartans (4-1-0) took on Western Michigan University underneath the lights at Vet Med Field with a wind chill in the high 40s. The Broncos jumped on the Green & White from the very beginning, playing a hard-tackling brand of soccer that caught the Spartans off-guard.

Western found the back of the net twice in the first 10 minutes to make their mark on the game. The Broncos went up 3-0 in the 69th minute before MSU's Eke Ofili grabbed one back in the 85th minute as the game finished 3-1 in WMU's favor.

"We got outworked," said Andy Warden, a senior midfielder for the Spartans.

On Sunday, the MSU traveled to Ypsilanti to take on Eastern Michigan. The contest ended in a 5-0 win that proved to be therapy for a team that had suffered its first loss a mere 48 hours ago.

"It was a good game all around and we got maximum points," said Warden.

The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on Butler University.
