Bolivian President Knees Political Rival In Groin

In Bolivia, a friendly soccer match pitted President Evo Morales against a political rival, La Paz Mayor Luis Revilla, to inaugurate a new field. Each led their teams in a bitter, foul-filled match that ultimately ended in a 4-4 tie.

Minutes into the game, Daniel Gustavo Cartagena, a member of Revilla's team, fouled Morales, allegedly cutting a gash in his shin with his cleats.

Morales' under-the-belt response was caught on video, where he is seen approaching Cartagena and striking him forcefully in the crotch with his knee. Morales, wearing No. 10, was treated for his injury, but continued to play, scoring a goal.

One of the president's bodyguards reportedly sought to arrest Cartagena, who was ultimately kicked out of the match, but Revilla intervened on his behalf. The video of the incident is below (sorry about the music, but I thought it was quite clever):
